Paul A. Bonin is a judge on the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court in Louisiana. He won the seat in the general election on December 10, 2016.
Bonin was a judge on the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal from 2008 to 2016.
Bonin received his undergraduate degree from St. Joseph Seminary College and his J.D. from Loyola University Law School. He has taught criminal justice at Southern University at New Orleans for five years. Before being elected to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal, Bonin was Traffic Court Division C judge and Civil District Court ad hoc judge. He is known for being the first to use ankle bracelet technology to detect alcohol use by underage and repeat DWI offenders.
