Judge Keith Comeaux has served Division E since his election in 2001.
Judge Comeaux is a graduate of Catholic High School class of 1972, has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Southwestern Louisiana class of 1977 and has a Juris Doctor from the Louisiana State University Law Center class of 1980. He has served as a public defender from 1981 – 1987 and was the Assistant District Attorney of the 16th Judicial District from 1988-2001 where he has prosecuted over 1500 felonies, tried over 80 felony jury trials, and prosecuted over 15 murder prosecutions. He was active in the Victim Assistance Program instituted by the District Attorney’s Office in St. Martin Parish and supervised the handling of victim crimes from 1988 – 1998. He practiced general civil law in New Iberia from 1980 – 1999 handling mainly real estate, domestic, corporate, personal injury, general civil litigation (plantiff & defendant), estate and probate work including wills.
Judge Comeaux is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal, U.S. Western District of Louisiana, and the U.S. Court of Veteran Appeals. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association since 1980, a charter member of American Inns of Court – Inns on the Teche – Louisiana District Attorneys’ Assocation, National District Attorneys Association, and is a past charter member of Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
Judge Comeaux is married to Virginia (Ginger) Broussard Comeaux, a retired teacher at Westgate High School. They have four children – Ashley, Lindsey, Tyler and Morgan. He is an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter as well as a past pee wee football coach, Catholic High School’s Jr. High football coach, an Evangeline Little League baseball coach, and a New Iberia Recreation Department Basketball Coach. He was instrumental along with his wife in starting Project Graduation in Iberia Parish.
