Juan Pickett is a judge for the 32nd Judicial District in Louisiana. He was elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2020. Pickett received an undergraduate degree in business administration from Virginia Union University and a J.D. from Southern University Law Center in 1993. Prior to his election to the bench, Pickett was an assistant district attorney in Terrebonne Parish for over 20 years.
The National Association of Social Workers presented Terrebonne Parish District Court Judge Juan Pickett with the awards for 2018 State Public Official of the Year and the 2018 Regional Public Official of the Year. In addition to his duties on the bench, Pickett spends countless hours of his time and energy giving back to the community. Pickett participates in the Judges in the Classroom program, which teaches local students about the legal system. Pickett also uses social services in court through a felon re-entry programs and a misdemeanor probation program that helps people get back on their feet. He recently worked with the Louisiana Workforce Commission to help people on probation find employment.
