Judge Gregory P. Aucoin is a lifelong resident of Morgan City, Louisiana. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1968, in Morgan City. After high school, he attended Nicholls State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1972. After graduating from Nicholls, he attended Loyola Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, graduating with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1975. He was licensed to practice law by the Louisiana Supreme Court in 1975.
Prior to becoming a District Court Judge, Judge Aucoin was an Assistant District Attorney of the 16th Judicial District from 1979-2000. He served as a Commissioner on the Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District from 1999-2014, as a public defender from 2002-2012, and as City Attorney for Morgan City from 2004-2014.
In 2014, Judge Aucoin was elected District Judge for the 16th Judicial District Court, Division F, and took office on January 1, 2015.
Judge Aucoin is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, American Judges Association, charter member of the American Inns of Court – Inn on the Teche, and Louisiana District Judges Association.
