Ed Broussard is a judge of the 15th Judicial District in Louisiana. He was elected to this position on October 4, 2008. He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015 and expiring on December 31, 2020. Broussard earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southwest Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette). He went on to graduate from Loyola Law School in 1981 with his J.D. Two years after graduating from law school, Broussard took a clerkship position with U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Putnam. He later joined his father and grandfather in their law practice, as well as working as an assistant district attorney from 1984 until his election to the Abbeville City Court in 2001. He also developed the Abbeville City Court Mentoring Program, the first juvenile program in Vermilion Parish. It aims to provide services for first- and some second-time juvenile offenders that will prevent them from repeating their behaviors.
